As Liz Adams, I write fairy tale erotica. As Ezra Barany, I write Jewish thrillers. My first thriller The Torah Codes is an award-winning bestseller, and the sequel Fighting with God will be out by 2014.

Writing women’s erotica with the pen name Liz Adams has been quite a journey for me. I believe it was Johnny Carson who said, “When a man talks dirty to a woman, the man is charged with sexual harrassment. When a woman talks dirty to a man, the man is charged $2.99 a minute.” Similarly, I think that society believes that when a woman writes erotica, she’s exotic. When a man writes erotica, he’s a pervert.

I’ve found that women who know I’m a man and read my work are more likely to criticize my writing and women who don’t know I’m a man are more likely to praise my writing. For that reason, I chose a woman’s pen name.

I’ve also discover that writing erotic romance has really helped me improve my writing, especially in the way of character development and relationships. My beautiful wife and book coach Beth Barany has helped me make my writing shine. If I could take anything from this experience, it would be to encourage you to try writing in a genre you’re not familiar with. Don’t write horror? Discover the challenge in writing words that scare the reader. Don’t write suspense? Discover the challenge in getting the reader to clench their seats and stay up turning pages.

Oh. This was supposed to be just a description of who I am. Well, I was a high school Physics teacher, so there’s always a teacher in me. :)
